Whether you’re interested in a pair of custom Air Force 1’s, custom Vans, or custom Jordans, all of our artists hand craft every custom sneaker we sell. This means you should expect a turnaround time that is longer than your typical online ecommerce store. There are three main reasons why custom sneakers take an average of 2-6 weeks to make. Those three reasons are, the time it takes to receive the base shoe, how many open orders the artist is currently working on, and the complexity of the design.
When creating your sneaker art, our artists prefer every custom sneaker to be done on a brand new, unworn pair of sneakers. 95% of the time, this means that the artist will be ordering the base shoe from an authentic retailer, or picking them up in store. For example, let’s say you’d like to purchase a pair of custom Air Force 1’s, the majority of our artists will order them from Nike’s website, or an authorized Nike retailer, such as Foot Locker. On average, it takes about 1 week for the base shoe to get to the artist. If the artist has time, sometimes they will make a run to their local Nike retailer to buy the base shoe as well. In that case, this will help cut down on the overall processing time for your custom sneakers.
Once the artist receives the base shoe for your custom sneakers, the next major factor that plays into the overall turnaround time is the amount of orders that has come before yours. Some of our more popular artists could have 10 open orders that came before your order, so this could push back your design by about 10-12 days. Out of all the factors that determine the estimated turnaround time, this is probably the most important. With custom sneakers, no shortcuts are ever taken. Quality will always come before quantity. This is why we always respectfully ask for your patience when processing your order. If you ordered a $300 pair of custom Air Force 1 Lows, it’s our responsibility to send you the best quality design we possibly can. However, please remember, you can’t rush perfection. Trust us when we say this, they will be well worth the wait
The third major factor that impacts the turnaround time of your custom sneakers is the complexity of the design. For example, if you were to order a pair of Custom Nike Air Force 1 Lows, like in the photo below, this design would roughly take around 1-2 hours to complete.
This means the artist is able to create a lot more of these designs in a given day. However, it all goes back to how many open orders the artist has before they begin processing your design.
Some custom sneaker artists are known more for these more simple designs, and others prefer to work on custom designs submitted by the client. For example, shown below is a custom sneaker request submitted by one of our previous clients.
This client wanted a pair of custom Air Force 1 Lows with a portrait of their favorite anime show, Dragon Ball Z. Although our partnered artist has a tremendous amount of experience painting anime characters, this was a much more complex design that took 1-2 days to complete.
If you are similar to myself and find it hard to wait for your custom sneaker orders, there’s always the option to put in a rush order with us in order to speed up the entire process. Rush orders do cost extra, but your order will automatically be placed at the top of the open order queue and will cut down at least 1-2 weeks wait time.
Here’s a quick timeline breakdown of our custom sneaker process. For this example, the client ordered a pair of Custom Nike Air Force 1 Lows:
Average turnaround time is 2-6 weeks.
In summary, custom sneakers take an average 2-6 weeks to process. The majority of the processing time will depend on the artist and the amount of open orders they have. Custom sneakers may take longer to receive than your average ecommerce order, but when you are receiving a one of a kind piece of wearable art, it’ll be well worth the wait.
